DSTA 205 Introduction to Applied Statistics 3

Prerequisite: Two semesters of high school algebra with a minimum grade of B (3.00) or a college-level math course with a minimum grade of C (2.00).

An introduction to statistics and its applications, this course is designed to prepare students to interpret and evaluate statistics and statistical methods used in published research papers and to make decisions about the appropriateness of specific statistical methods in a variety of settings. Areas of emphasis will include descriptive statistics, analysis of graphs, sampling methods, binomial, z, t, and chi-square, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. This course will not fulfill the statistics requirement for Bachelor of Science degrees from the department of Health and Biomedical Sciences nor fulfill the pre-requisite requirements for graduate degrees.
